With More Smart Devices Comes More Privacy And Security Concerns
Many of us live dreading what will happen if our smart devices record our most personal and intimate conversations and make it public. A family in Portland actually lived through this nightmare were their Amazon Echo recorded their chat and sent it to a random contact.
But as smart home technology is swiftly being integrated into our daily lives and private spaces, it’s not difficult to imagine far worse scenarios.
With the internet, though people are rationally aware that they should be concerned about virtual attacks, they lack the instinct for the same. Whereas in the “real world”, the instinct is far too strong. We are also not very clear which algorithm might be listening to us while we use social media. Studies show that just the existence of a privacy policy gives the user a feeling of security, even if it does not actually guarantee the users that their data will not be sold to any third parties.
The best way to thrive in the market today and put all concerns of security to rest would be to adopt a transparent procedure where they share with the customers which data is collected and for what reason.
