With Quarantine And Social Distancing, We See A Jump In Smart Home Device Sales During The Pandemic
Mitchell Klein (MK), the executive director of Z-Wave Alliance home automation solutions, has sighted the impacts of the pandemic on the smart home market. MK mentioned that there were massive delays in producing devices which resulted in delays in delivering products to the consumers. Since the end-users are spending more time at home, many are investing in smart home products. He also mentioned that the growth of IoT has been consistent and it is expected to have this growth continue.
According to ABI Research included in the Z-Wave Ecosystem Report, Z-Wave all-in-one devices, smart doorbells and water sensors are the top categories predicted to experience growth through to 2025.
In terms of getting back to the normal terms for the popular smart devices, MK mentioned that it is more than likely to see an increase in the demand for home security, home entertainment, and generic smart home technology as people will be spending more time at home. The focus is going to be more on DIY devices as users want to learn. They would also not need to worry about social distancing rule for a professional installer.
