With The Acquisition Of Ring Amazon Has Secured Their Footing In The Smart Home Race
Amazon recently announced that is acquiring Ring, a video doorbell-maker. This move has stabilized Amazon in the home technology market. Amazon is trying to make its voice assistant, Alexa, a hub for all the home tech services. It is also aimed at reducing package theft as Amazon is expanding its delivery operations.
Though the price has not been revealed, it is believed to more than $1 billion. Ring is established in Santa Monica. It lets the users see who is on both sides of the door on their smartphones. The doorbells are Wi-Fi enabled and uses motion sensors. A video is then sent to the owner’s app. One of its much-appreciated features is its video footage.
The Ring video doorbells sale starts from $179. Ring's products could potentially be combined with Amazon's Key service, which gives Amazon Logistics delivery personnel permission to unlock a customer's door for five minutes. With this, the end-to-end delivery process can be monitored by the owner even thousands of miles away.
