Yonomi’s Kent Dickson Talks About The Changes To The Smart Home Scene With COVID-19
In the latest episode of the IoT for All Podcast, the guest was Kent Dickson, CEO and Co-Founder of Yonomi. The discussion revolved around the current state of the smart homes and how the COVID-19 pandemic could lead to things going either way for companies in the industry.
Yonomi creates positive experiences with even simple routines like turning off the robot vacuum when the TV turns on or ensuring that when a homeowner arrives the lights are on and the thermostat is set to the ideal temperature.
The developers, for their part, can decrease development time by having an API that will bring better interoperability between devices. Dickson highlighted some of the issues that came with developing Yonomi’s platform, such as continuing to offer flexibility to connect with products manufactured by different companies in different countries. They also had to understand how to deal better with the development schedules of various businesses.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the governments imposing lockdowns, many are staying at home and are interacting more with their smart devices. Different industries, such as insurance and so on can help users save on costs while enjoying the convenience. Towards the end, he predicts that the smart device will enjoy a high rate of adoption post the pandemic.
