You Can Now Know When Your Digital Assistants Start And Stop Listening
How will you know if your Amazon Echo or Google Home smart speaker has stopped listening to you? You can do that quite easily. Both the speakers are designed to listen to the wake words, post which they will start recording and transmitting your requests. Both of them already have visual signals to show that they are listening.
If you’ve enabled the “Follow-up Mode” (for Alexa) or “Continued Conversation” setting (for Google Assistant), your device will keep listening for several more seconds in case you want to ask more questions or issue more voice commands.
If you want, you can also enable the settings on your Google Home or Echo devices so that you get audible signals of their listening. Even better would be to set a signal that tells you that the assistant has stopped listening. However, do note that the devices will always be listening to the wake words. It is an easy enough thing to do in both devices.
