You Can Now Store Home Security Footage At No Cost For Up To Ten Days With Apple’s HomeKit
HomeKit, Apple’s smart home system, has been working to add support for a variety of new devices, including routers and security cameras. The company has been increasing support steadily since 2014 and it looks like this year, Apple is focusing on home security.
The new HomeKit Secure Video API will let these cameras send their video to an Apple HomePod to locally analyze it before sending it up to the cloud.
After analysis, the video will be encrypted and stored in iCloud. Users can store up to 10 days’ worth of footage for free. The newly added router support will allow the user to firewall off accessories so that they cannot get access to your entire home network.
Eero, Linksys, and Spectrum plan to support the HomeKit features. If you are an Apple product fan, it is one of the easiest systems to use thanks to its easy and deep integration with all Apple devices. The user would also be able to control everything via Siri, Home Hub, or by using a compatible app.
