The two companies smart home strategies are completely different: Amazon is focused on selling products while Google wants to sell you.
Google is planning to launch the latest Pixel smartphones and many a few laptops, and a with-screen smart speaker. The goal of both the companies is same- get their virtual assistants included in every aspect of your life. The way they go about doing this is different.
Amazon is creating products and aiming to build its very own successful ecosystem while Google is looking to become more popular via partnerships. While Amazon focuses on launching as many products as possible, Google releases very few of them and prefers to work with third-parties. It has taken to working with Huawei and LG to create its laptops and phones.
While Amazon places emphasis on selling its products, Google is concentrating more on advertising. Amazon has even started working with sponsored Alexa ads! Google has earned over $54 billion in revenue by advertising alone. Although Google offers Android for free, it mints money via apps like Maps and Chrome with ads.
