Amazon Halo To Collect Biometrics At Home And Monitor Vitals
Smart home devices are becoming smart with time and technological progression. With these new advancements, devices are being powered to recognize people either using voice or face. Amazon has released a product called “Halo” which collects all the biometric data of a user.
It does not have a display for information, and instead contains multiple sensors including an accelerometer, a temperature sensor, a heart rate monitor, two microphones, (and a button to turn the microphones on or off) among other functions.
It records all your activities, sleep, weight and the voice tone. With this data, Halo will be able to give better recommendations to the user. For example, if the stress level is detected to be high, it will suggest a meditation playlist from Amazon Music.
With tech giants investing huge sums in smart devices, such developments are going to show up sooner or later. Security is, however, going to be the factor that could stop the growth of smart devices. For security, the Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) is the main issue. Multiple algorithms are being set up to ensure that there are minimal hops between humans and machine to ensure data cannot be stolen.
