Amazon Wants You To Build A Smarter Home. And They Have The Goods To Help.
Amazon recently released their plan for complete and utter smart home domination. It launched about a dozen Alexa-enabled devices including a wall clock, Echo speakers, a new subwoofer and amplifier, and a microwave. Since the microwave does not have any inbuilt microphones, it connects to the Echo speaker. It will soon be able to recognize many pre-sets along with commands related to cooking. The microwave is powered by Amazon Connect Kit. This means that you will be able to connect your kitchen devices to Alexa even if they don’t have microphones.
Amazon’s Smart Plug lets the customer plug any device into it and they will be able to control it via their Echo.
You connect it to your home WiFi network by scanning a barcode on the back of the plug with the Amazon app, which should make setup relatively painless.
Echo Wall Clock gives you a visual indication and connects to the Echo speaker as well.
Apart from coming up with new devices, Amazon has also improved their range of Echo devices – Echo Dot, Plus, and Show speakers. The aesthetic appeal of all these products has increased and the sound quality is better as well. Looks like Amazon is on the right path to total domination of the market!
