Amazon’s Crowdsourcing Concept: Let The Consumers Decide What They Want!
Amazon recently announced the launch of its new platform called Build It which relies on crowd-sourced data to see what type of voice-enabled smart devices are worth manufacturing. In this platform, customers will be able to submit a preorder for different types of gadget prototypes. The devices that are currently up for grabs are the smart cuckoo clock, the smart nutrition scale, and the smart sticky note printer.
The concept initiated from the Echo Frames which was prescription-ready eyewear with a microphone that allows users to control smart home devices. It also enables users to take phone calls or listen to music.
That product was developed through a program called Day 1 Editions, an initiative that allows users to test and give feedback on devices before they launch on an invite-only basis.
This way, Amazon could easily assess how well the product would be received in the market and the first buyers would definitely give some honest feedback on the devices that were preordered by them.
