Amazon’s Echo Is The Best-Selling Smart Speaker. And Now They’re Actually Doing Something To Improve That “Speaker” Part.
Amazon Echo is one of the world’s most popular smart speaker. However, it is common knowledge that Amazon speakers deliver mediocre quality. But the company is taking steps to put it right. They recently announced their first subwoofer, amp and other products. While the upgrade might still not be enough to make it the best, it could make it better than Sonos One and Google Home Max.
Many manufacturers over the past two years have built multiroom audio systems around the little Echo Dot – ignoring the built-in speakers and using the puck merely for voice control and streaming services.
Gen 3 offers better and louder sounds but this improvement results in an addition of 0.6 inches to Dot’s frame. It will also require a more powerful adapter. Echo Input is a new system which is basically Dot but without the speakers. It comes with a four-mic array and connects to a speaker through an audio cable or Bluetooth.
Echo Sub is Amazon’s first attempt at a subwoofer. Pairing Amazon Echos with Echo Sub could get you immersive stereo sound. As of now, it only works with Echo or Echo Plus. Amazon is also ready to announce Echo Link and Echo Link Amp – equivalents of Sonos Connect pre-amp and Sonos Connect: Amp.
