Apple Is Increasing List Of Compatible Smart Devices For Their HomeKit
Google Home and Amazon Alexa are the most popular choices when it comes to smart home systems. Apple HomeKit has joined the party over the years but has been lagging when it comes to neck-to-neck competition.
This can be due to Apple’s own decision where smart home device manufacturers need to include a dedicated chip for compatibility with HomeKit. However, reports tell us that this can now be bypassed by using a simple software instead of the chip.
The Apple Home app is capable of working with smart devices which include cameras, doorbells, fans, lights, humidifiers, power outlets, sensors, switches, thermostats, TVs, and many more.
The range of devices whose compatibility has been extended to help with the onboarding of more users on the platform has increased.
Each category also has a good number of devices. For example, Apple currently lists 21 cameras that work with HomeKit, nine garage door openers, dozens of smart lights, door locks and smart plugs, and over 30 thermostats.
The major brands that work with the HomeKit include Philips Hue, Logitech, Hive, LIFX, Ikea, D-Link, Arlo, and many more.
