As Smart Virtual Assistants Ownership Grows People Remain “Uncomfortable With Robots” In The Home
Amazon’s smart assistant, Alexa, is in continuous communication with an Amazon server center. With smart appliances like TV, WiFi-enabled baby monitors, and connected toasters, almost every device in our home can communicate with the world outside. Though we are excited about all of this, accepting robots are something which we are hesitant about.
When a survey questioned internet users on whether they think that robots will take over common human activities in the coming 30 years, 61% of the people said yes! Though internet-connected devices and smart assistant have made life easier, they also bring a risk factor. The threat to our privacy and security is real with the figure of domestic abuse victims via technology is increasing at an alarming rate.
People’s perceptions of the term “robots” range from automated bots you may encounter on the other end of a phone call to autonomous cars.
Robots, along with smart home assistants, could help us a great deal. They can support us mentally and physically. It is a good reason why we should encourage robots in our society and figure out a way to coexist with them.
