Charmin’s Latest Innovations Are All About Toilet Roll Bots And Smart Sensors
The folks behind Procter & Gamble’s Charmin toilet-paper brand are having a bit of fun at CES in Las Vegas this year, demonstrating three high-tech concepts developed by its Charmin GoLab to help us out when nature calls.
According to Charmin, they are not ready for the market yet. The Charmin SmellSense is a sensor that is designed to be mounted on to the bathroom wall. It detects high levels of carbon dioxide in the poop. The display tells you if it is a go/no-go situation. If it is the latter, you will need to wait and give some time for the air to clear. While the company has not specifically talked about it, the device needs to send push notifications to your smartphone to let you know it’s all well. Without it, the idea is not sufficiently possible.
Charmin’s RollBot comes to your help as you summon the two-wheeled robot which will roll over to bring you a new roll of toilet paper. The bot can be controlled via the smartphone app. Besides this, it will also respond to Google Assistant or Alexa commands. Another latest innovation by the company is the V.I.Pee porta-potty which is basically a virtual reality headset. This takes you to concert halls and stadiums as you enjoy a virtual front-row seat while taking care of business! All that said, Charmin has no plans to bring these lovely ideas to the market. It was all developed as part of a PR stunt.
