Future Of Smart Security: Cameras Or Motion Sensors?
Home security cameras can make people uncomfortable at times.
There have been many instances when home security devices have fallen prey to hackers.
Despite advancements, such as a good firewall and multi-factor authentications make the device secure, there is a certain amount of risk of getting hacked. Once hacked, the hacker will be able to see a live stream of what is being recorded. Xandar Kardian, a radar-based tech company, has revealed that it is more than possible to remove security cameras altogether and replace them with motion sensors whilst having better security features.
The company has developed a radar technology that can sense the occupant of a particular space without them making a lot of motion and it is capable of measuring the heart rate of an occupant with medical-grade accuracy. The system is backed by AI that helps it determine the number of occupants within a space, regardless of their movement. Though the camera can capture the face of a person, the radar technology, on the other hand, will be able to detect someone other than the occupants quite easily. The sensor can also assist in other automation, such as turning off the lights or lower the thermostat when there is no one in the room. Since there are no cameras, the risk of getting hacked is low.
