Google And Nest Support Gesture Control For Smart Thermostats
Google is working on a new version of Nest Thermostat which will feature motion-sensing technology. Though the initial rumors suggested that the device would be launched along with the announcement of Pixel 5, but that did not happen. New rumors have confirmed that this device will sport a hand gesture technology that will assist users in controlling the device without touching it. Many speculate that Google will go soft on the pricing model in order to promote more sales.
The new model is said to include a sensor similar to the radar unit fitted to Google’s Pixel 4 smartphone from 2019.
Though the sensor is not included in the latest Pixel 5, Google seems to have found it useful for the Nest thermostats. The speculations also suggest that the latest model is built of plastic to have a lower price point. Since the thermostat market is one of the slower-moving sectors of the smart home industry, the price should make a difference in targeting more consumers.
