How Does Comcast’s Subscription Based Service Protect Your Smart Home Devices?
Comcast is using AI to protect the home networks of their customers. Their new subscription service kicks in here. The xFi app can be used to control the network traffic. The system examines the traffic with machine learning and AI. It then blocks anything that seems suspicious. Suspicious activity could range from traffic coming in from known bots or weird IP addresses.
The company announced Xfinity xFi Advanced Security, an AI-powered service designed to monitor, block and inform customers about online threats while providing protection for all connected devices in the home.
Customers will be sent an alert to block them and instruction on how they can protect their device better. The product’s proactive scans can notify you of important issues, such as if a device’s ports are open. The system uses Cujo AI.
After permitting the subscription, the service will not require the user to perform any set up or installation. They just need to plug in and connect their devices. xFi Advanced Security identifies these devices and lets the user add each to a user profile. As soon as the service is enabled, it starts work by scanning the home network. xFi allows the users to control via a dashboard their home networks.
