How Soon Will We Have Completely Integrated Amazon Alexa-Enabled Smart Homes?
Lennar, a popular homebuilder, is now developing model homes that come with Alexa-integrated technologies, such as smart locks, thermostats, doorbells, lights and integrated Wifi. In May, Lennar and Amazon announced their partnership to introduce “Amazon Experience Centers”.
In these smart homes, customers would be able to ask Alexa to do anything from turning down the lights and starting a party music playlist to turning on the doorbell video feed when someone rings.
Amazon’s smart speaker product line has increased to about 5 other products, such as Echo Show which come with a video screen and the Echo Dot Kids Edition that encourages the kids to use polite words like “please”. Amazon is also planning to get into the hospitality business by offering Alexa-enabled rooms in hotels. They have partnered with Marriott International for this.
Though Amazon is currently dominating the market, Google is not far behind. Even Apple is doing its best. There are users who are highly concerned about data privacy when voice control technologies have the power to listen in on their private conversations and collect data. Google and Amazon have denied that the devices can do this.
