IKEA’s New Smart Blinds Set To Hit The U.S. Market Just In Time For Spring
There has been a lot of speculation on whether or not IKEA would have its smart blinds on sale in the U.S. The short answer is that IKEA’s smart blinds will be available in the US from the first week of April.
IKEA’s TRÅDFRI intelligent lighting range has multiple smart home products, such as motion sensors, dimming kits, and LED bulbs – all of which can be controlled via an app. Regarding the blinds, there are two types – KADRILJ and FYRTUR, both of which will be available in Europe soon. However, US will have only FYRTUR available.
The smart blinds are the blackout, opaque ones which are user-friendly as well. KADRILJ is a bit translucent. These blinds don’t need to be plugged in thanks to the lithium-ion battery pack that’s integrated with the blinds. For recharging them, you can use a USB power brick or purchase extra power packs.
Once the blinds are in place, owners can pair the device with an accompanying white control puck that can be used as a manual remote control.
Users can set the blinds to open and close at specific times via the app. It supports both Google Assistant and Alexa.
