Amazon recently got over challenges in its smart home line of products. The company released many new elements to make Alexa integration easier. Alexa Connect Kit is designed to provide connectivity via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and is certified by FCC. It connects to the microcontroller the gadget wants to use. This reduces time and effort of manually connecting them.
Smart Home Skill API’s new version lets developers create a voice interface for any object on their house. It has three options – the toggle option, the range option, and the mode option.
Amazon has stealthily become a smart home standard by allowing products to work together to solve the standards problem, and I see the work it has done on Alexa Connect Kit and the Smart Home Skills API to make devices easier to control in one place as another step in improving the consumer experience.
Amazon also revamped the setup process. It will now get to your home, already knowing its destination and once plugged in, will authenticate on your network! You can also rename it and use voice. The company is also working to make Alexa more sensitive to context and the power to suggest an action or “hunches”, as Amazon calls them.
