Latest Apple Patent Reveals That You Will Soon Be Able To Use HomePods As Your HomePhone System
A new patent application has been published by the US Patent & Trademark Office that has been requested by Apple. This new patent describes and introduces a new feature which we might very soon see on the HomePod. With this, users will be able to use their HomePods and HomePhones without much human intervention.
Apple’s patent presents the simple idea of allowing HomePod to accept incoming phone calls to be amplified in a room.
Users will no longer have to search for their phone when it is ringing within the house, provided it is connected to the HomePod. The phone calls can be accepted either via Siri or using the phone itself. When speaking, the microphone and the speakers of the smart home devices will be used. All the audio data for the call will be securely transmitted between the smart home device and the smartphone device. Though the Apple’s patent application has been only recently published, it was filed back in March 2020. There is no timeline as to when the product/feature is expected to hit the market.
