Microsoft Tries Its Hand At AI Tech With Azure Percept Vision
Smart home speakers have been thriving in the market. If a smart home has a smart speaker, then it is usually from Amazon, Google, or Apple. Microsoft tried to enter the competition with their Cortana-based smart speaker, but the device was not as popular as it was expected to be. However, Microsoft hasn’t given up on letting others build intelligent devices that are based on their own technologies and hardware.
Redmond launched Azure Percept, a platform of hardware and services that is built around Microsoft-designed hardware and Microsoft’s Azure artificial intelligence (AI) platform.
The latest product is named Azure Percept Vision, which is a smart home camera with Azure Percept Audio, an intelligent audio system built by Microsoft. With the world moving towards the AI space, Microsoft seems to be leading the way in how AI is adopted into smart home devices. The best example of this is the PowerApps platform where one needs zero coding experience to develop an app from scratch.
