Motion Sensor And Shortcut Button To Get Ikea HomeKit Support, Improve Experience.
Ikea, in their latest update published on their support page, mentioned that the Ikea HomeKit support is being extended to the motion sensor and shortcut button. Users will continue to require the Tradfri Bridge, as this is the only way to update the firmware for the devices. Another note in the support page mentioned the release of a new product called the Styrbar Remote control which will act as a remote dimmer for lamps.
The main area of interest for HomeKit fans is that Ikea’s shortcut buttons can now be used to activate any HomeKit scene.
There are many occasions where this button will be more helpful. An example scenario is when someone is sleeping, and you do not want to use the voice command to close the blinds. There are many other use cases to this scenario. The feature was expected to hit late last year but was delayed.
