Optimistic But Concerned About Privacy And Security, New Zealanders Want Smart Tech In Their Homes
New Zealanders say energy efficiency, cost savings, and convenience are the reasons they are excited about regarding AI and smart home technology. Over 50% of them say that they could potentially save an hour every week if they use smart devices.
In spite of over 90% of the New Zealanders understanding the benefits of AI and smart technology, many are hesitant about the privacy, hacking, and the misuse of personal data. Samsung states that 1095 New Zealand consumers were involved in the survey where about 66% of them were worried about being hacked. Until there is transparency around privacy, data, and security, making the transition to smart homes will be tough.
“Samsung’s Knox platform is a premium security solution and its overlapping defense and security mechanisms protect against intrusion, malware, and more malicious threats, giving people the freedom to work and play how, where and when they want,” says Selwyn.
Biometric authentication like fingerprints and iris scanning are already used to make sure that the sensitive information is secured.
