Samsung SmartThings Finally Announced Google Nest Integration Along With New Android Auto App
Earlier this year, Google had announced integration with Samsung SmartThings. The first thing that was rolled out was the Google Nest app for the Samsung SmartThings platform. This link allows the smart home platforms to communicate with each other and control devices that are connected to either of the platforms. Once the users install the new Nest app, they will be able to add Nest devices to the Smart Things platform. With this, several SmartThings devices can be controlled via Google Assistant.
The deal expands on Samsung’s recent addition of Google Assistant to its smart TVs, sharing the devices with Samsung Bixby.
The tech giants are closely working with each other to expand their reach and bring new, innovative ways to communicate with each other’s devices. The integration is set to be used beyond home and in cars. Android Auto has added a SmartThings app, providing control of SmartThings devices via Google Assistant from a vehicle and control of the car through SmartThings. Once linked, it could unlock the car and also start the car’s engine with this capability in the future.
