Samsung SmartThings Users To Enjoy A New, Fresh Interface
Samsung has rolled out a new update for their smart home app SmartThings which includes a brand-new user interface. The older interface had a slightly muted color scheme, full of grays and earth tones. With the new UI, there is a fresher look that has been rolled out to the Android users.
While the interface of the old app was oriented around the different rooms users had assigned for their smart home gadget, the new layout now focuses on five spaces.
They are favorites, devices, life, automations, and menu.
The Favorites, a new homescreen, will allow users easy and quick access to the frequently used scenes and devices while the Devices space will have a full list of all connected smart devices. Life – for access to Samsung’s add-on services, like SmartThings Cooking. On the Automations menu, users will be able to create and organize Samsung’s if-this-then-that automations, like triggering lights based on motion sensors and so on. The Menu section is essentially for everything else, including notifications, settings, and device history. It is always good to see Samsung focusing on SmartThings since it is no longer making original hardware for its smart home platform but instead is relying on third-party manufacturers to create SmartThings-compatible devices.
