Signify, Philips New Name For Smart Lighting, Has Partnered With Six Companies To Increase Their Smart Home Product Line
Philips has been having a great year. In addition to a corporate name change to Signify in May, the New Jersey-based smart lighting company introduced six new partners in the Friends of Hue program at IFA 2018 in Berlin this week.
Busch-Jaeger and Illumra are planning to offer Friends of Hue smart wall switches. These will be available in a large range of colors and styles so as to give the users the opportunity to get creative.
Hue smart switches will come in both single and multiple-switch frames. These will not need either batteries or wired connections to operate the lights since they work thanks to an energy-harvesting 2.4 GHz Zigbee GreenPower wireless technology that works on kinetic energy from EnOcean.
Four lighting design companies from across the globe are joining up and bringing their scene designs, or luminaires. The customers are free to mix Hue smart lights and switches with luminaires to create their very own lighting models! Stored light designs can be operated via the smart switches or via Alexa. Signify stated that the releases by Busch-Jaeger and Illumra will be seen this fall.
