Make your home cleaner and fresher with this super, feature-packed robot vacuum cleaner from Neato.
With so many tasks and assignments to do each day, having to push a vacuum cleaner all around the house is a job many of us would rather avoid. Welcome to the age of robotic vacuum cleaners! While these cleaners are designed to augment your traditional vacuum cleaner, they do an outstanding job of getting your house cleaner without you having to lift a finger! And with the advancement in technology, these robotic vacuum cleaners are loaded with features that make them not only practical but also efficient.
We are introducing the Neato Botvac D5Connected Navigating Robot Vacuum Cleaner! It is a low-profile, low-cost robotic vacuum cleaner with unique design and features aimed at keeping your home spick and span without hassles associated with traditional vacuum cleaners and most robotic vacuum cleaners.
Design of the Neato Botvac D5 Connected Robot Vacuum
The first thing you will notice about the Neato Botvac D5 is its D-shape design. Why a D-shape when most of its kind come in a round shape? The D-shape of the Botvac D5, coupled with its large core brush (which is bigger than in most vacuum cleaners), and the side brush allows it to reach corners easily, clean along straight lines and walls compared to its round-shaped counterparts.
Measuring 12.7 x 3.9 x 13.2 inches in dimensions and weighing 8 pounds, its slim and low-profile design enables it to access areas other vacuum cleaners find challenging, such as sweeping under furniture. Underneath, it has a combination brush that works to dislodge and loosen debris, making them easier to be sucked up. There is also a built-in razor that cuts tangled hair and fur, preventing them from clogging up the suction.
The Botvac D5 features a powerful LaserSmart technology that enables it to navigate around your home intuitively. It scans, maps, and creates a floor plan for future use. It can also function in the dark with its lasers. Unlike most vacuum cleaners that clean randomly, this device moves in straight lines allowing it to make a complete, systematic sweep of your floor space.
It works well at cleaning hardwood, tile, and carpet surfaces and comes with a 0.7-liter bin that lifts out for emptying. You get 90 minutes of battery life with the Botvac D5, and when low on battery, it can automatically return to its charging point, recharge itself, and resume work from where it left off.

Cleaning Features and Modes: The Botvac D5 systematically moves in straight lines rather than randomly when cleaning to ensure that it covers all. It operates in two cleaning modes: a house mode and a spot mode. In the House mode, the device cleans the entire house. In the Spot mode, the robot only cleans a 7 square foot floor area. This Spot mode is suitable for cleaning just a small area of the house, perhaps from spills and debris. You can also enable the Extra Care mode in the House mode for a gentler operation as the robot moves around, especially if you have delicate furniture. The unit always operates at maximum power and does not have a cleaning power mode.
This robot does an excellent job of cleaning surfaces such as tiles, hardwood, carpet, or rug. It picks up most dirt at first sweep and has no problem moving from one type of surface to another.
Mapped Floor Plan: The Botvac D5 maps out your entire home using advanced LaserSmart technology. This same technology also allows it to see and work in darkness. It comes in the box with magnetic boundary tapes which you can use to indicate out-of-bounds areas for the robot. Furthermore, this device has a multiple floor plan feature that enables it to store up to 3 floor plans for operations.
Versatile Connectivity: This device supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT. You can start, pause or turn off the robot using your voice instead of the power button or even the Neato app. Once you have added the Google Assistant skill, you can also control the device using Google Assistant. The IFTTT support enables you to start, stop, pause, and resume cleaning or return the device to dock for charging.
Battery Power: You get 90-minutes of battery life with the Botvac D5 which is ideal for most homes. However, should it run out of power while still cleaning, it has a fast charging feature that can enable it to charge quickly and return to complete the job from where it left off. You can perform two cycles of a full charge to complete a cleaning job.
Scheduled Cleanings : Through the Neato app, you can schedule periodic cleaning for your home. You can set daily, weekly, alternate days, or any schedule that works well for you. The Botvac D5 will run the plan and clean your home whether you are there or not.
Software Updates : With integrated software updates, updated or new features can be added to this robot to improve its efficiency and operations.
