The base station measures 6.65 inches x 6.65 inches x 1.42 inches and can be placed on any flat surface or mounted on a wall. It has a Z-Wave and a ZigBee antenna. It connects to other devices using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, in addition to Z-Wave and ZigBee.
The keypad, which is used for arming and disarming the system, is powered by AC adapter and an internal rechargeable battery that can last up to 10 months per charge. It can put the system in one of three security modes: Disarmed, Away, and Home and operates under the same temperature as the base station. The Kit comes with a wall-mount for the keypad that has a quick-release bracket.
The contact sensors and motion detector each have a 3V Lithium battery that can last for three years installed. Both connect to the base station using the Z-Wave antenna and have a maximum range of 250 feet from the base station.

“Bought this system as a replacement for ADT and sooo glad I did. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner! Super easy to install and more flexible in settings to really customize to your needs. Also can’t beat the pricing options…there’s a choice for everyone’s budget.” – Matthew Mulvihill December 4, 2018
“We are exceptionally happy with the Ring Alarm we purchased from Amazon and installed ourselves. Monitoring cost is much more affordable than the name brand security company we used to use, plus the futures on this Ring system are better. We have covered the house and garage with security and adding camera’s. I highly recommend this to anyone.” – Clayton Parks December 4, 2018
“I Love my new Ring alarm!!! I’ve never set up my own alarm system and this was such an easy process. The base station can be put where you like. I placed mine next to my router and neither are next to the TV or the computer. I used an Ethernet cord because I wanted a solid internet connection. I put my Ring alarm together with the Ring Pro video doorbell, and the Ring 2 video doorbell. I feel safer than I ever have as a single Mom at home.” – Becki A. December 4, 2018
