Improve and ensure your home security with this advanced Touchscreen Deadbolt from Schlage. Its exciting features will put your mind at rest concerning your safety, whether you are at home or away from your house.
What’s in a door lock? Doors were made to protect our homes, and locks were put on them to further secure our family, loved ones, and our possessions. Does it matter what type of lock we install in our doors? Of course, it does! Door locks have varying degrees of security features, ease of use, and convenience.
Schlage, manufacturer of innovative locks for more than 90 years, has diversified into producing smart door locks in a bid to increase security in our homes and improve ease of use. The Schlage Z-Wave Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt is one of such locks. The lock combines modern technology with refined mechanical design to produce a reliable, convenient, and secure deadbolt for doors in our homes.
Design of the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt
Schlage’s Z-Wave Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt works with the traditional single, family doors in residences. It fits doors of thickness ranging from 1⅜ inches to 1¾ inches and works with 2⅜ inches or 2¾ inches backsets.
The outside piece of the Deadbolt has a key slot for locking or unlocking the door manually and a resistive, matte-finish, numeric touchpad, installed on the outside, through which you can use codes to open the door.
Four AA Alkaline batteries power the Deadbolt, and the batteries can last for up to 8,760 hours.
Features of the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt
Installation
Installing the Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt is very easy, and all you need is a Philips screwdriver. There is no wiring required to install this lock. The installation guide provides you with simple, easy-to-follow instructions that you can have the Deadbolt installed within minutes. You can also view a video demonstration of the installation process as provided by the manufacturer.
Multiple Entrance Codes
The Touchscreen Deadbolt is pre-installed with two entrance codes. You may delete them if you wish or you may retain them as a default backup should you forget your entry code. The Deadbolt allows you to use one security code for everyone or issue a different one to each family member and friends as needed. You may choose between four- to eight-digit codes. By using entry codes, you never have to worry about losing keys and having to change your door lock.
Automatic Lock
We have all had those moments when we were on the road, in the office, or out somewhere, only for us to wonder: “Did I lock the front door or not when I left the house?” With Schlage Touchscreen Deadbolt, you never have to worry about that again. Thirty seconds after the door closes, the Touchscreen Deadbolt automatically locks itself, ensuring that your home is safe.
Seamless Connectivity
Schlage Z-Wave Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt is compatible and works well with a variety of smart home devices. The deadbolt integrates well with Z-Wave smart devices made from brands such as as SmartThings, Ring, Nexia, Wink, Alexa, and Google Assistant.
Anti-Lock Pick
Yes, vandals and thieves have become more skillful at picking locks. However, the Touchscreen Deadbolt has an anti-lock pick that makes it impossible for anyone to pick the lock and open your door.
Anti-Smudge
The touchscreen on the Schlage Deadbolt has a resistive matte finish (anti-smudge) that makes it impossible to figure out your pin codes from smudges made by fingers on the keypad. Also, by using codes of varying lengths, you can ensure more robust security to your home.
Backup Key Usage
You may have forgotten your pin code, or you may have procrastinated changing the battery until it finally runs out. In either case, you will not be able to issue a pin code to enter into your home. No, do not panic. Schlage provides you with a backup key to unlock the door in such cases. You should resort to this backup key only as a temporary measure pending you restoring the Deadbolt to its proper functioning status.
Built-in Alarm System
The Schlage Deadbolt has three alarm settings (Activity, Tamper, and Forced Entry alerts) that allow it to detect movements of the door. There is a different alarm sequence for each type of notification. Whenever a suspicious activity is detected, the Deadbolt triggers a very audible alarm to scare away possible intruders.
Low Battery Reminder
The Deadbolt comes with four AA batteries that can give you over 8,000 hours of service. However, when the battery becomes low, it gives you adequate notice that the battery is running out.
An Intruder or Tamper Notification
Whenever the Deadbolt detects suspicious activity at the door, forced entry, or tampering with the lock, it immediately sends you a notice wherever you are.

“Picked this one out of the many that were available – ended up being the right one! My wife was skeptical about it and was nervous about breaking it or not remembering her code, but after using it for a few months she now swears by it and made me get another one for the back door! We both agree this is so much better than carrying keys everywhere you go, plus being able to check it on my smartphone and tie it into the security system makes this a very convenient and versatile lock.” – B. “So far this lock has been great for my Airbnb unit. With the Wink app, I can give out custom codes to each guest and manage when and how long the codes are active. Within the Wink app there is a built in reminder to remove the user codes from the lock after the guest leaves. It was really easy to set up, and the price was more attractive than other locks with the same functionality.” – Blane C September 6, 2016
“Great lock. This one is actually my second Schlage lock. The convenience factor for these locks is life changing. If you have Samsung SmartThings, look into scripts that will push this to the next level. I’m talking features like burner codes, remote code programming, per user notifications, per code events, etc…” – Kaiyoti November 21, 2017
