Smart Door Locks Have Become Even More Useful With August’s Internet-Connected Deadbolts And Smart Cams
If you own an August internet-connected deadbolt, life has just gotten easier. You will now be able to unlatch your door handsfree.
Today, the San Francisco company announced enhanced Google Assistant integration for the August Smart Lock, alongside Amazon Alexa and IFTTT-powered features for the August Doorbell Cam Pro.
The user will also be able to tell Google Assistant to unlock the front door. Voice-controlled unlocking combines Smart Lock features, such as Auto-Lock. This bolts and unbolts the door according to the foot traffic in the area. It can be controlled via the August app.
Amazon Echo speakers and other third-party Alexa devices will now be able to use custom routines that are connected with motion. Echo Spot and Echo Show are shortly getting an upgrade where they will gain a two-way voice chat giving you the ability to talk to the people outside your door.
On Google Home devices, the Assistant will alert the user that someone is at the door. Regarding IFTTT, August has a number of automations. Smart Lock and Doorbell Cam Pro are not only compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT, but also with Apple’s Siri.
