Smart Energy For Smart Devices – Israel Startup Builds Solar Panels On Smart Electronics For Sustainable Power
A STARTUP in Israel is implanting tiny solar panels on electronic devices that allows the devices to sustainably generate their own power, the latest sign that falling costs are pushing renewable energy technologies deeper into everyday use.
3GSolar Photovoltaics Ltd was established in 2010 and is now supplying producers of electronics in China, Europe, and Israel. The cells are developed specifically for low or indoor lights. They are not the kind of traditional silicon solar panel that is used outdoors. It makes use of a dye that is created from organic compounds to produce electricity.
Solar is a renewable source of energy and is considered to be one of the cheapest form available. Quite a few connected devices require batteries. With these cells and their lifetime warranties, you will not have to worry about their batteries for about 15 years!
3GSolar is also planning on developing wearable electronics and cargo tracking. Another innovation they are planning is to make a larger version of this panel which will be effective in replacing glass windows. They can be used to generate power and they are semi-transparent in nature, so they’d work well as a window.
