Smart Fabrics Are Just One Of The 48 Patents Apple Was Granted
Apple was granted 48 new patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Apple’s new patents talk about their invention regarding a display system that is designed to use hybrid emissive LEDs having an OLED subpixel and a QD-LED subpixel. This new type of display is developed for future iDevices.
In this particular report we cover Apple’s win for a possible Quantum Dot + OLED display and smart fabrics that will include built-in haptics via shape memory alloy wires.
The patent covers their research and invention involving smart fabrics. It looks like the future devices may have haptic output devices depending on the shape memory alloy wire.
The devices could come with control circuitry that provides energy to the shape memory alloy wire so that it can heat the wire and thus, let the wire generate vibrations for a user’s finger. These vibrations may act as haptic feedback.
The shape memory alloy wire could be placed between the fabric layers or across the opening of a printed circuit. Apart from this. Apple also has been granted a patent for the Apple Watch Dock Charger.
