Supporting Over 200 Different Brands And 10,000+ Smart Devices – Google Assistant Making Huge Strides In The Smart Home Market. But Still Well Behind That Of Amazon Alexa.
Google Assistant’s support page tells us that it now supports more than 10,000 smart home devices across 200 brands. The number has increased exponentially as just last May, the figure was 5,000. While it supports 10,000 devices, it is still lagging behind Alexa, which supports more than 20,000 devices.
Google Assistant has been trying to gain the lead over Alexa for a couple of years now. Many are of the opinion that Amazon’s Alexa is better than Google Assistant, mainly because of the many support it offers when compared to Apple Siri or Google Assistant. Google is adding more on its list of devices and it looks like it will catch up with Amazon quite soon. However, Google Assistant still has to grow a bit.
The impact of this is that most smart home devices are now likely to have support for Google Assistant. If you notice, most of the new devices offer support for Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Google Assistant.
These basically need to be supported for the device to actually sell well. As it means that it will work with any platform. Whether that is iPhone, Android or Amazon.
