Survey Shows Two Of Three Americans Who Own A Smart Home Device Are Concerned About Climate Change
A recent survey of more than 1,000 Americans by ValuePenguin has revealed that consumers who are concerned about climate change have taken to energy-efficient smart home technologies. 65% of the survey set who said that they have at least one smart home device are those who are concerned about the climate change impact. About 82% of men own smart home device versus 49% of women.
The most popular smart home device is the smart home speakers, followed by the thermostats. Most of the popular devices were found to help the users in reducing consumption of resources such as electricity, water, and gas. Another interesting point to note was that most of the smart home investments came from the Northeasterners.
Men, those in Generation X and those living in the Northeast dominate smart device ownership.
Respondents were willing to foresee data privacy issues. The high costs of the devices made sure that there are environmental benefits. 56% of the survey respondents also mentioned that they would be willing to invest in smart home products if they were given insurance discounts.
