The Average Household Spends 1/3 Of Their Electric Bill On Heating And Cooling Their Home. Elon Musk And Tesla Want To Build A Smart Air Conditioner To Change That.
On average, a household spends about one-third of their electricity bill on keeping their house at a comfortable temperature. Elon Musk, who is the founder of Tesla, talked about a potential Tesla-connected smart air conditioner. The CEO has already set up Tesla factories which are completely solar powered. According to him, the air conditioning unit should predict your arrival and cool/heat the room you are likely to use. This requires basic intelligence is not something hard to do.
He went on to say that if the air conditioning is connected to a vehicle like the Tesla, it would activate only when you are about to arrive at home. This would cut down on the amount of energy used and make it possible to keep a home comfortable without the constant use of energy.
Since Tesla vehicles already have the feature to be tracked via their app, connecting that app to the smart air conditioner is the next step.
He declined to mention when asked if Tesla has plans for developing such a system. Maybe with time, we might even see a Tesla smart home!
