The Future Of Smart Devices Will Help Us All Age Safely From The Comfort Of Our Home
With the advancement in technology, aging at home is a new area to explore. At the CES 2019, experts discussed how integrating smart devices into a home could assist in seniors leading an independent life, such as cameras that could prevent accidents or falls by sensing poor pace.
Research shows that more and more seniors are using technology in their day-to-day life, from having a home assistant to having cars with driver-assist technologies. Voice assistants help in dealing with the issue of social isolation.
Smart cameras, sensors, and smart pill dispensers are some products that help the caregivers in keeping an eye on the seniors. They can also alert first responders in case of emergencies. While telemedicine is an established concept, it has not yet been fully integrated into a smart home. Health care not only means via sensors but also the concepts of humidifying the air for better air quality.
The technology of the future will probably involve fewer wearables, panelists said. Instead, Miller said he expects to see greater connectivity, where as many as 15 distinct technologies integrate through one voice assistant.
