The Smart Home Battle Continues Between Google And Amazon With Their Smart Video Displays (Echo Show vs. Google Home Hub)
The Echo Show’s display design did not receive applause as most wondered if it would be useful at all. However, it proved to be highly helpful in performing most tasks. Google, on the other hand, partnered with JBL, Lenovo, and LG to produce a range of “Google Smart Displays.” These have YouTube integration as well which is an advantage over Amazon’s speakers. Google launched the Google Home Hub – a small device with minimalist design. A great benefit for those worried about privacy is that the Home Hub does not have a camera. Echo Spot faces complaints on this matter, just as Facebook’s Portal.
It looked like Google’s Smart Displays were better in every aspect than the Echo series. Amazon incorporated many features into its 2018 Echo Show, such as improving the quality of graphics and having its own video streaming options, such as NBC, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.
The company also launched its Alexa Smart Screen SDK. Amazon even reintroduced YouTube via built-in browsers, thus working around Google’s aforementioned restrictions.
Google and Amazon have been competing ferociously in this space. While healthy competition forces the companies to come up with better products, what has happened now is that the customers are forced to take sides. Purchasing products from both will create chaos in your house.
