It will soon be a decade since the very first voice assistant, Siri, was introduced. Though it is hard to believe that Siri has only been around for ten years, this space has expanded exponentially. Different tech companies got their chance to showcase their voice assistants. As time progressed, these voice assistants started getting smarter, by embedding a tinge of artificial intelligence in them. Today, voice commands allow us to not only execute basic smartphone functions, but they have given us control over some very complex smart home systems. There are several players in the voice assistant phase and a popular one is Josh.ai. While it is lesser-known than Amazon, Google or Apple, it has a strong user base.
Josh recently published their list of the top 10 most used voice commands of 2020. The most-used voice commands were “OK Josh, Good Night” followed by “Turn off the TV”, “Turn off the lights”, “Good Morning”, “What time is it?”, “Close the Shades”, “Goodbye”, “I’m Home”, “What’s the weather”, and lastly “Watch Netflix”.
What stands out first is that 40% of the list is comprised of complex requests, meaning simple phrases that result in a multiple things happening.
The result also goes on to show that the industry is improving slowly and giving consumers greater power with their voice assistants.
