Vague Indeed But Microsoft’s Newest Patent Called “Intelligent Device User Interactions” Might Be Amazon And Google’s Next Big Competitor
Microsoft has patented another device quite recently. This one is an intelligent device. Some example by the company shows a user and a smart speaker communicating. The patent is titled “Intelligent Device User Interactions” and was filed on 15th May 2018 by Microsoft.
Smart speakers or intelligent assistant devices receive verbal commands and questions from the user. In most cases, the devices are triggered by using a specific keyword. To make sure that the requests of the users are captured entirely, the device waits for a bit after receiving the keyword and authenticating it to receive the input. The user input is then transmitted for translation and interpretation to a remote service. When the results are delivered, the device replies to the user. These steps delay response and even create obstacle while holding a conversation with the device.
The patented system works in the following manner.
In some examples, a method for interacting with a user comprises predicting suggested action(s) for the user and displaying the action(s) via a display of the device.
When the suggested actions are shown, the audio input containing the command is received. This input is locally stored and processed. Depending on the user selection, the actions are performed.
