What Does Amazon Investing In A Prefab Home Builder Mean To The Smart Home Landscape?
Amazon recently invested in Plant Prefab, a prefabricated home builder.
It’s a startup angling to leverage automation to speed production and reduce costs, bringing single-family housing to market more quickly and presumably with smart-home technology pre-installed, given Amazon’s interest.
The company is investing heavily in this as they are also making headway with their increasing number of Echo products. You will find that over 20,000 smart home devices across 3,500 brands are compatible with Alexa. Integrating Alexa with Plant Prefab homes is a great idea as this will make the smart homes more accessible to both the developers and the consumers.
The users are welcoming and adopting voice-enabled devices at shocking rates, in spite of the privacy concerns surrounding it. Today, many consumers are alright with trading privacy with conveniences. They are more interested in getting to try out something novel and Amazon is indulging them.
