Wink Smart Home Platform Had A Global One-Day Outage, Frustrating Their User-Base
Smart home manufacturer Wink has reportedly had outage for a whole day leaving users across the globe frustrated with their service. Adding to this outage, they have also reportedly lost access to their primary wink.com domain. The company sells smart home hubs that can connect to numerous smart home devices such as thermostats, fans, lights, door locks, and many more. They had also recently switched over to a subscription-based model.
The Wink’s status page acknowledges the issue and the Wink team has been working on the issue since it was reported.
Every single Wink feature was non-functional, including the core platform and all connections to third-party services.
As of now, there does not seem to be an update on what the issue is but the Twitterverse has vented out. While one can expect issues to occur, it is assumed that an established company like Wink would have covered all their bases by having multiple checkpoints on their server end. It will be interesting to see if Wink comes back with a better and proactive issue management once this is resolved.
