You Can Now Find Your Lost Wallet And Switch On The Smart Vacuum All With Samsung’s SmartTags
Samsung has quietly launched its latest product called the Galaxy SmartTag. The device looks like a small square and does not cost much. It can be easily attached to keyrings or inserted into wallets. The device allows users to track the location of the thing that it has been attached to.
SmartTags are built on Samsung’s SmartThings home automation platform.
The Galaxy SmartTag and Galaxy SmartTag Plus are a natural evolution of the SmartThings Find feature which uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies to help people locate devices. If the device is offline for 30 minutes, it produces a BLE signal which get picked up by other Samsung devices and sent back the location of the smart tag to the Samsung server, which notifies the owner of the lost item. The Galaxy SmartTag integrates BLE, while Galaxy SmartTag Plus uses UWB.
The SmartTag can also be used for other things apart from finding lost items. The device has an integrated button which can be used to activate smart home devices. Imagine you will be able to trigger Samsung’s smart vacuum cleaner with the click of a button. Samsung is trying to create an ecosystem where users have full control of the devices.
