You Will Soon Be Able To Enjoy Apple’s HomeKit Platform With Latest Smart Home Accessories
With home automation and the smart home industry increasing at a rapid rate, Apple announced that it would join the Project Connected Home over IP group – where it would work together with Amazon, Google, and the existing Zigbee Alliance in developing a new common standard for the smart home automation. The project aims at creating a cross-platform solution that would be easy for smart home devices to adopt and at the same time, link with the major voice assistants available in the market.
Apple took this a step further with the announcement that it’s open-sourcing HomeKit.
The project is said to be on track with their deliverables and will be supporting most of the smart home devices available in the market. The final standard is expected to be ratified sometime in 2021, but the draft specification is due later this year. The project team has been working on getting more devices onboarded into this new project so that the user base is expanded. Once this is implemented, Apple’s HomeKit will have a bit of an edge as they have one of the best home automation solutions.
